Why I want to meet Anthony George Banks
Phil Collins (and to a lesser extent, Mike Rutherford) get all the attention as members of Genesis, but not many people know that the “true” Genesis sound is due to the amazing keyboard work of Tony Banks!
Tony’s chord voicings and use of melody are vastly different from every other rock keyboardist like Wakeman, Emerson, etc. His music is reminiscent of the “romantic” period of classical music and his writing reminds me of Ravel, one of my favorite classical composers.
